First and foremost is an individual’s relationship with God. All of us have God-given ability.  It is up to us to use it to glorify him by ultimately developing what he has given us to the highest standard spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially! Individuals who have God in the center of their life have a stronger foundation. They see challenge and adversity as a blessing because it is a catalyst for growth. They treat others the way that they want to be treated. Faith, love, gratitude, humility, empathy, attitude toward work and leadership are all part of their personality. Their positive attitude and the way that they carry themselves in all situations comes from an internal reliance on God’s plan.

Second is the individual’s commitment to the team. This becomes evident through the observation of the respect that an individual demonstrates by their work habits and attitude displayed on a daily basis in the classroom, hallways, and at workouts. Having respect for themselves, team members, coaches, teachers, official and the game is vital to an individual’s commitment to the team.

Third is the vision and the mission of the team to work together toward a common goal that they all agree upon and hold each other accountable. This is a binding relationship that challenges each individual to consider the team vision before their own individuality. It is a form of self-governance that all great teams have. It is a form of learning and commitment that each individual will carry with them the rest of their lives. Nothing can compare to it, and nothing can defeat it.
